Cheap closet organisation tips
Whilst spring has often been associated as the traditional time for a closet clean out, we think making a little time before the end of the year can actually be the perfect opportunity for a wardrobe rethink. As summer is truly over along with the warmer autumn days, now is a chance to reorganise and reassess your wardrobe options. Give yourself more space and ease those anxious decision making moments by taking some time to go through your closet, putting away the more the summery feeling attire and focusing on your winter look.
The polite purge
It’s new year, new you as they say but get ready to hit the ground running in the new year by starting early with your look. The best place to start is with a big closet clean, take a look through each item you own and truly think about whether it still serves you a purpose. If it doesn’t, let it go. Marie Kondo made this approach famous in her 2019 Netflix series ‘Tidying Up with Marie Kondo’, where she encouraged people to ask themselves if an item ‘sparked joy’, and told them to thank the item before removing it from their life if it did not.
Clean and categorise
Using the action of going through each of your wardrobe items is also a perfect opportunity to clean the closet itself. Now would be a good time to add a store-bought or homemade wardrobe freshener to keep your clothes smelling fabulously fresh for the following year. It’s also a great time to start sorting your clothes into categories. Not only will this help you to put away all the summer items you won’t be needing any time soon, but it also a fantastic chance to arrange your clothes in easy to find categories, something that should save you ample time in your getting ready routine compared to searching through a pile or mess.
